Cav Nation will make their season debut this Friday, August 30th against Arlington Martin at 7 p.m. Though the first game is away, fans and coaches alike are looking forward to another competitive season, and Cavalier Head Football Coach, Hank Carter, sat down with reporters to briefly discuss the upcoming season.
What are some strengths of the offensive team this year?
“Offensively, the strengths are going to be our quarterback (Chaston Ditta), tight end, and receivers. Those are the guys that have the most experience coming back [this season]. There’s a lot to be excited about.”
What about our defense?
“Defensively, I would say that our defense in general has a chance to be really good. Our defensive line’s got three kids that have a lot of varsity experience already, with Gus Cordoba, Cater Buck, and Ben Duncan. At linebacker, Easton Aird, Cam Brooks, Walker Moore, those guys are returning starters in the secondary. [So] we’ve got a bunch of guys that have been in some big games.”
Last week, the Cavaliers beat Midway (Waco) at a scrimmage, proving that Carter may just be correct, and there is a “lot to be excited about.” The team’s preparation and dedication are evident as they look forward to facing new opponents and continuing to develop their offensive and defensive talent.
“I’ve been super close with the team, and we’ve put in a lot of long hours. We have great coaching, and I feel closer to the team than ever. We’re ready to go to war,” said LTHS senior, Merrick Kays, a varsity linebacker.
With a mix of veterans and promising underclassmen talent, LT is destined for a successful season, and fans can’t wait!
Let’s go, Cavs!!
