The Buda Johnson Jaguars played Cav Nation for 2023’s Football Week Three in Cavalier Stadium. Lake Travis was victorious, with a comfortable 52 points against Buda’s 24. The match was filled with great plays from both teams, however LT’s were more fruitful.
The Cavaliers scored their first points within four minutes of the initial kickoff, with a 25-yard field goal by kicker Braydon Doane. Buda quickly replied with their own field goal, equalizing the score at 3 – 3 with four minutes left in the first quarter. The first touchdown of the game went to Lake Travis, scored by Kadyn Leon, quarterback, with an 8-yard rush. The extra point was converted successfully by Doane.
Kadyn Leon was able to score two touchdowns, along with Running Back Vann Hopping getting three touchdown runs. Doane was successful on all of his conversions. One of the major plays was a massive 56 yard reception by wide receiver Seth Galbraith, which put the Cavs on Buda’s half of the field, leading up to a touchdown reception by Sam Self, a tight end.
Ezomo Oratokhai, an offensive tackle for LT, noted that the team performed well in the game. “Offense showed some really good things,” he said, and “defense played really good” as well. “Overall, as a team, we did spectacular.”
The team credits their win to their motivation and teamwork. “[The team] has a lot of momentum going into Akins,” says Legend Cabello, offensive guard for LT. “[LT] will prepare for Westlake really well.” Cabello thinks Cav Nation has a “good chance this year” to make a run in the playoffs. He additionally commented that the team’s chemistry is “unbelievable” this year, and that it is “much better than last year, we all get along really well.” The players are “all pretty good friends, so that helps a lot with winning games.”
