Now that prom is over, it’s time for a recap: what did students think of this year’s venue? After years of school dances held everywhere from the annex courtyard to the Bob Bullock Museum downtown, the students of LTHS were ready for a change. A popular venue for wedding receptions and other events, The Etter-Harbin Alumni Center at UT Austin provided exactly that.
While the 2025 prom at Fair Market was a success, its location was less than ideal for students to take photos with friends. “I helped choose the UT Alumni Center this year because it looks just as great on the outside as it does inside,” said senior and student body president Rori Reynolds. With a wraparound porch located just off of the main dance hall, students were able to pose for outdoor photos without strobe lights getting in the way. “It’s always great to take photos before dinner, but I also wanted to make those memories with friends I saw at the dance itself,” Rori added.
Another popular feature of this year’s venue was its multiple stories and rooms. Rather than mingling in a single warehouse-style dance hall, students had the option to chat with friends and play games in the quietier lobby. “I loved the layout of the Alumni Center, and I especially appreciated that it was easy to leave the dance floor to get some air or speak to someone,” shared junior student Vanessa Valle.
Although this year’s prom venue was a clear success, LT STUCO is constantly thinking of ways to improve their next big event. “Our work doesn’t end after prom,” said Caroline Scanlan, a junior and the STUCO treasurer for the 2025-2026 school year. “The next thing we have to tackle is homecoming, and we’re so excited to improve it even though we loved this year’s venue.”
One thing is clear: LT Administration and STUCO have done a fantastic job planning the most recent school dances, and their choice for a prom venue was no exception.
