And with that, the 2023 regular season is over. Cav Nation finished it off with a spectacular 66-14 win over the James Bowie Bulldogs at Burger Stadium, scoring seven touchdowns in the first half alone.
While both teams displayed incredible athleticism and fantastic plays, the Cavs dominated with plays such as an amazing 98-yard kick reception for a touchdown by Walker Moore. “[It was] very exciting, the first one of the season. I think that’s the first defensive play of the season as well, so I’m gonna celebrate with my teammates,” said Moore, a wide-receiver and cornerback for the Cavs. “I saw the gap, you know, hit it fast, and then from there on it was just full speed.”
The Cavs owe five of their points to fan-favorite running back, Hudson Atchley, who rushed for two yards to get his first touchdown of the season and another for the Cavaliers, which was then converted by kicker Robert De Jesus Vergara.
“It was a good game, we gotta get ready for the playoffs. We’re just seeing who we’re playing tomorrow,” said Legend Cabello, the Cavalier right guard. “[Bowie] is a pretty good team; we just dominated tonight.” When asked about his outlook for the playoffs, Cabello said, “We feel good. Chaston [Ditta] is looking really good. Kadyn [Leon] is coming back. Ezomo Oratokhai is coming back, and we’re gonna be firing off. No one’s gonna be able to stop us. We’ve got good momentum going into the playoffs.”
Moore believes in Lake Travis’ capability, saying, “This team has state potential. Everybody’s always focused, [and] we’ve got a great bond.” He also mentions that his year might be “the best defensive corps that Lake Travis has had in a while; offense is rolling out too. Chaston Ditta stepped up at quarterback, so I feel like we’ll be good.”
Our vote? Always for Cav Nation.
